Understanding Allergy Symptoms

Allergies are growing rapidly in today’s generation. These range in a variety of sources from chemicals, foods, flowers, grasses, and environmental products. You rarely meet anyone who hasn’t had an allergy to something.

Knowing your allergy symptoms and how to treat the underlying causes creating your allergy are the two integral portions necessary for finding an effective solution to increased health and well being.

There are many ways that people treat allergy symptoms, but most are short-lived and only supply a band-aid to the real problem. Patience and knowledge help provide a key to living with otherwise debilitating allergies.

What Are The Most Common Allergy Symptoms?

In doctor’s offices throughout the world, common allergy symptoms are seen daily. The most frequent sign of an allergy is chronic sinusitis. In this ailment, the nasal passages are constantly clogged and/or draining, and headaches are apparent. Red, itchy, watery eyes can be another common allergy symptom which is not only painfully irritating but worsens with continued scratching.

A variety of over-the-counter and prescription medications are available to help stop these reactions and inflammation. Eye drops are often used to take the redness and irritation away from the eyes.

Natural approaches are also an option to use with allergy symptoms as well. A variety of herbs can be most affective when dealing with allergies, an example of one herb that is used for allergies is milk thistle which can cleanse the liver and help it function properly.

Other allergy symptoms cause more delayed-type reactions that can occur even weeks after an exposure. Having this type of allergy is not only difficult to diagnose it can also cause problems for the sufferer for years to come. Allergy symptoms of this type include gastro-intestinal issues such as: irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, or diarrhea. Many of these are caused by certain foods that the body is reacting against and need to have eliminated from the diet.

Mental problems such as attention deficit and depression can also be linked to allergy symptoms to certain chemicals or food additives. Dietary intervention or acupuncture may be of help in finding the root causes of these allergy symptoms. This is extremely important for long-term relief. Many would like a “quick-fix” answer to their allergy symptoms, but they will continue to have chronic issues until the causes of their allergy symptoms have been addressed.
