Natural Herbal Skin Care Product Treatment for Acne

Skin care is not something new as it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. The skin care market changed forever when chemical based products became available which have taken over the skin care market from herbal products. Not only have many of the recipes been lost but herbal products are not as popular as they once were as science has gradually changed people’s attitudes towards skin care.

This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things; our laziness or just the fast pace of lives and the commercialization of skin care. The problem becomes worse when you realize the commercialism involved with the manufacture of herbal products by large companies that have to add preservatives to make them last longer which obviously reduces their effectiveness.

The good news is that in light of a growing interest and trend in all things natural, a small number of people have started producing these products again. There isn’t likely to be a revolution against the cheaper mass produced herbal skin care products in the future but just what are these products exactly.

Although one of the more common herbal products, aloe vera has other properties other than just helping sunburn; extracted fro the aloe plant it also hydrates skin and can be sued on cuts as well. Other household herbs like dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary are good at cleansing but usually when they are in combination with other herbs.

To protect from infection and help the skin, the herbs lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel can be used, all of which have antiseptic properties. Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care and tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.

You may also be familiar with herbal oil extracts like tea tree, primrose and lavender which are the most popular and used for a variety of reasons. Certain skin conditions can also be helped with oils extracted from plants in herbal skin care preparations.

Although it is not something that is mentioned very often but herbal skin care products rarely have any adverse effects on the user and as you can produce them at home, they are very attractive to people trying to avoid anything synthetic. While herbal products will probably remain popular as there are so few reactions to them that there will be times when synthetic products will be necessary for certain skin disorders.

We all need to look after our skin by whatever means we can as it is the main barrier against disease and takes a great deal of punishment in the modern climate we all live in.
