Christmas Ideas to Wow You – Part 2

With so many various Christmas decorations, it is difficult to describe them all. In describing part of the living room, I felt a big WOW as I continued through the other rooms. In Christmas Ideas That Will Wow You Part 2, I will continue describe some of the very special simple decorations that I observed on my visit through a Christmas wonderland.

Simple little ideas can yield big “Wows” when used effectively. Christmas glass balls, small gold and silver beaded chains, glass bowls and jars, bells, red velvet are all things that can be easily used to dress up an area of decoration. Fireplaces are a typical place to use to display Christmas stockings, movable, animated animals or Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Use tinsel around the bases and lay glass ornaments, silk poinsettia flowers and weave around the area some gold beads. Take the red velvet and add some bells to put on you doors. If there are no young children or animals, you could even place a bowl of candy or add candy canes to each of your decorated areas.

Without much effort you can make a great table centerpiece using a glass hurricane lamp and a pillar candle. Find a small, smooth, tree branch with a good number of “finger branches”. The total size of the branch must be a little smaller than the largest hole of the hurricane. When you have the branch inside of the hurricane with the candle, you can decorate it. Using miniature ornaments, plastic red berries or anything small and Christmassy to decorate the “finger branches” on the tips of the larger branch inside the hurricane. Make it a miniature Christmas tree with a few balls and gold beaded stings. Let your imagination go to work and try different combinations of decorations.

In my sister-in-law’s dining room, I was surprised and pleased to see how Christmassy it looked, too. There were chair covers in red, green and white satin and a big flower arrangement on the table covered with a Christmas tablecloth. Christmas dishes, napkins, candles and place mats were set at each chair. It was beautiful. These are items that most families have and use, but most don’t think of using the place settings on a decorated table as decorations.

The glass French doors in the living room opened to the back deck where there was a large blowup animated snow globe. Looking through all the beautiful Christmas decorations and feeling the festive spirit, I looked outside through the doors and saw it snowing! With all the trees bare in the background, the foreground “appeared” to be getting snow because the large animated snow globe was working. There was a big snowman and a Christmas tree with a large gold star on the top in this blowup animated snow globe and snow was blowing all around the inside.

With winter scenery, the animated snow blowing in the globe with the snowman, the bright yellow star on the top of the tree beckons my attention. I had already begun to feel the spirit of the holidays and with all the “wow” of the splendid decorations, I find myself believing it really is snowing. It takes so little money to decorate many different areas of your home for the holiday. Use things that you have and some imagination to make your own “Winter Wonderland”. It will make all the difference in your holiday mood and spirit and it will WOW you and your friends, and make you feel so accomplished and cheerful. Have a Merry Christmas.
