    Adopt A Vegetarian Food Pyramid

    August 23rd, 2008
    by Jim John

The vegetarian food pyramid is very similar to the food pyramid that we have all seen. In place of meat it will list the legumes and nuts that are an alternative protein to animal products. It also replaces the fiber category with a vegetable and fruit category at the bottom of the pyramid. This is possible because of the high fiber content of most fruits and vegetables. It is not necessary to add fiber as a separate tier on the pyramid.

It should be noted that the basic version of the vegetarian food pyramid is not appropriate for vegans. It includes a section for dairy products that strict vegans will not consume. It can be replaced with something else for a vegan, such as soy products that substitute for dairy. Or they could take a look at the food pyramid that was designed specifically for vegans. The interesting part of the vegan food pyramid is the inclusion of breads and grains that is missing from the vegetarian pyramid.

The food pyramid is an excellent reference for those trying to determine their nutritional needs. If you are concerned about getting the right foods in the right amounts, you should take a look at the pyramid and plan your diet accordingly. The vegetarian pyramid gives you serving amounts daily just as the traditional food pyramid does so you will be able to determine if you are getting the right amounts.

The vegetarian food pyramid also helps you determine how much of each type of food your body needs and what is over the limit. At the top of the pyramid for the smallest amounts are fats, oils and sweets. This is the way it should be if you are looking for the healthiest diet available.

The vegetarian food pyramid offers a graphic illustration of the healthy features of this diet. You can be certain of your diet being as healthy as it could be if the vegetarian food pyramid is followed faithfully. This happens to be a good method for dieters who are considering a vegetarian diet to reduce weight by incorporating the food recommendations.

To adopt a vegetarian diet and maintain healthy nutrition levels may sometimes prove difficult since some food items are limited or missing. It remains however a totally possible task. While it takes time and effort to plan your healthy diet, the end result will be a longer and healthier life. Vegetarians are known to be generally healthier than those who consume meat.

The vegetarian food pyramid can be a helpful resource and diet planning aid for those who are just beginning the vegetarian lifestyle. The newcomer will have a greater understanding of the nutritional aspects of the diet as well as being more aware as to what is needed to maintain this healthier lifestyle. The transition towards a healthier diet is easier than ever, due to the amount of information that is available. You will discover that an all around improvement in your health by becoming a vegetarian is delicious and easy.

    Reasons For Vegetarianism

    July 25th, 2008
    by Jim John

People all over the world decide to live a lifestyle that involves abstaining from eating any animal products. These people can choose a vegetarian diet that fulfills their body’s nutritional requirements and lets them live a long and healthy life. Why do vegetarians say they chose to live a meat-free life?

There are several reasons why individuals choose a vegetarian way of life, but the health benefits seem to be predominant among them. Hormones and drugs in cattle are commonplace, therefore, they’re in your steak too. E-coli outbreaks and mad cow disease seem to be daily headlines. Obviously, these are significant points to think about when giving up beef, other meats and animal products.

If planned properly, there can be no other healthy alternative menu to meat and animal products than a vegetarian diet. Many folks consume meat just because it has always been a part of their lives. They have never thought about replacing the meat they eat with other delicious choices. All people should be able to pick eating habits that they consider the healthiest, and vegetarianism is the right option for many people.

Animal cruelty is another reason that people give to explain their vegetarian life. The way that meat is processed and obtained in our technologically advanced world leaves a lot to be desired. The production of meat, and that is exactly what it is, would make the biggest fan of meat products wince and vow to never touch another bite. The problem is that many people are unaware of what is done to provide the meat that is eaten every day.

People who love animals do not feel that animals should be exploited for the production of meat. These people feel that animals are sentient creatures that do not deserve to be treated inhumanely and killed so that people can eat them. It is possible to maintain health by eating things other than animals.

Many people believe further that the human animal is not meant to be carnivorous. They feel that if the design of our teeth and internal digestive system were looked at closely we would discover that we are designed to be herbivores only.

If one really tries to look critically at it, being a vegetarian actually is saving the environment. One cannot imagine a lot of people are still being ignorant about the dire environmental problems brought about by the massive greenhouse gas emissions of vast steer farms world over. Meat production is actually one massive venture. Not just hundreds, but millions of cattle are raised in unimaginably thousands of acres of lands. In fact, there can be no other entity that is particularly responsible for more carbon emissions to the atmosphere than cattle. If the call of the times is to protect the Earth from the destructive effects of global warming, then there can be no other most potent thing one person can possibly do to substantially help the environment than to live a healthy vegetarian lifestyle.

    Which Ab Exercise Program

    July 14th, 2008
    by Jim John

Your choice of ab program is an important one, and it can be difficult. Make sure to make the decision in consultation with your health care provider. Remember that a good weight loss exercise program should be combined with healthy dietary changes, as well. It doesn’t matter if your aim is to maintain your current weight or to lose weight.

Before beginning on your new ab exercise program, it is a good idea to set a weight goal that you would like to be at six months to a year from now. Be realistic in setting this goal to prevent frustration, and then plan out how much exercise you will have to commit to every day or week in order to reach this goal. To keep you even more on track, break up your overall goal into mini weekly goals and strive to meet these as well.

A personal trainer can be hired to assist in developing a ab exercise program. You can also make your own work out plan schedule by searching for online tools. Another option is to buy a ready made exercise plan like a computer program, chart, or book. These items can aid in tracking the goals for your exercise and diet.

There is one clear weight loss exercise program that exceeds all others: cardiovascular exercise. How much cardiovascular exercise are you getting? Cardiovascular exercises include power walking, biking, and running. Slowly over time, you can build up to 20-50 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week.

If your health is good, you may want to look into a strength training type weight loss exercise program. With strength training, you not only build muscle, but you tone and shape the muscles that you already have. Simultaneously, fat melts off your body. An assortment of push-ups, curl ups, and ball squats comprise the core of strength training exercises. If you’re new to strength training, choose one exercise per day and do 16 repetitions for best results.

Your body will tire of any workout that’s done repeatedly, so vary the exercises and routines in the weight loss exercise program you are doing in order to lose weight. That way, every muscle group will continue to work, because your body will not know what to expect. Switch between cardio and weight training exercises in order to get the desired results of training different parts of the body.

Other tips to help you reach your goal weight are to record in a food journal everything you eat, how much exercise you’re doing, and how you are feeling. Always proceed with caution and take a break if you feel lightheaded during exercise. Start small and work up to bigger and longer stretches of exercise as your body becomes stronger and fitter through your ab exercise program.
