Gifts For Boys – A Tough Choice
May 8th, 2010Whereas girls like to stay in their imaginary world of unicorns and butterflies with glittering lakes and sky-scraping castles, boys like to be rough and tough. A boy’s world revolves around video games, arcade games, cars, gadgets and a lot more. Selection for a gift for a girl may be very easy, but for a boy… oh! Tough task lies ahead! Of course your boy expects a lot when you are to present him something, and you should not disappoint him. Gifts for boys can be as wide as gifts for girls; all you have to do is brainstorm your mind.
Before you turn on the ignition of your car to go to your nearest toy store to fetch some gifts for boys, hold on! First think about the age group he is in. Is he really attracted to toys still? How would he feel if you present a toy to him when he imagined himself to be a grown up by now? Some children might feel to be old enough at a very younger age. Whatever might be the case, look for a gift that reflects the true personality of the boy. Super hero action figures, Transformers robots and cars and Disney Pixar cars gift baskets will be a good choice to select for boys.
Boys are all about gaming no matter what age group they belong to. They never seem to get tired of them. According to the age group your boy belongs to, you can select a wide range of video games, iPods and mp3 players. For older ones, play station 2 and 3 and Xbox 360 are another addiction. Boys of all ages are hitched to this drug. Moreover, you can even select basketball kits, soccer kits and other sporting goods when you shop for gifts for boys. You can also give them posters or shirts featuring their favorite sport legends. After all, boys will be boys and they sure love their “toys”!
For boys who are music freaks, the choice is never limited at all. Posters and records of legendary rock stars and other musicians are thoughtful gifts for boys. Also the new iPod speakers are a good choice. But beware; this will not be applicable to boys younger than teenage. Of course you do not want your young boy to idealize a rock star at this young age. For the ones who are younger for iPods and such stuff, and at the same time older for the cartoon characters, go for DVD’s featuring Sci-Fi movies.
The inclination towards good attire is not only a girl’s dream. If a girl likes to be the fairest maiden of the town, a boy also likes to be the Prince Charming. Gifts for boys may also include shirts and accessories that enhance their presence among their schoolmates and friends. However, you would have to be pretty selective for this. A boy may have a completely different choice for his attire compared to what you thought he would like. The key is to take somebody along who knows the boy quite well when you go out to shop for him, and bingo! You got that exactly right! Good luck!

Get Well Gifts For Children How to Pick the Best One
May 8th, 2010Whatever the illness might be, no one likes to see a sick child. The sight of a child lying in one corner of the hospital bed can be very distressing. Children are often cheerful and their sickness might snatch this thing away from them. A child should not be mentally disturbed due to his illness because he/she is too young to experience such a psychological burden. To brighten up a child when he/she is sick is very simple. Just a basket of get well gifts for children can be very exciting. You can imagine the twinkle in their eyes when they receive a gift basket under their name.
Get well gifts for children, which are able to keep the mind preoccupied, are those notable items that prove to be a good mental healer for a sick child. Often people present flowers to the sick, but for children this seems too mature of a get well gift. The perception of a gift over joys a child long before he lays his eyes on it. Therefore, make sure the gift basket is not something a young child has least expected. At least the appearance of the gift should be overwhelming to the child.
Normally, even children don’t like to sit idle. Neither do you like them to be quiet and unwell. If not doing anything physically, something is always manufacturing in their minds. The imagination that is going wild in their minds needs to be pictured. For this purpose, most children like to receive painting and drawing kits and puzzles as their get well gift. Make it as creative as possible. Accompany them with crayons, watercolors, drawing books, pastels, drawing boards and color books. You can also add play dough and clay for modeling with them. A child now feels home and is surely expected to get well soon.
For girls whose fantasy world never dies down, you may present paper dolls. Paper dolls would make nice get well gifts for children because they cause no trouble at all. Girls can play with them even when lying down. You can even buy different paper clothes to add to their excitement because girls love to change the attire of their dolls and beautify them. Buy a whole book of paper dolls and with it add some candies (of course according to the doctor’s advice) and you can sense the wind of joy that blows around the daddy’s little girl! Also you can buy them a bead work kit to make their own jewelry as they lie sick on the hospital bed.
If you fear that your children might lag behind in studies while they are sick, get hold of some more essence in creativity. For this purpose, you may wish to buy different books for crosswords, word games and scrabble to present as get well gifts for children. This will allow the young mind to keep up with the process of working and enhance the creativity of their mind. Also you can present them some visual aided learning books or videos to help them stay preoccupied when they are ill.

Gift Baskets For Children Shopping Just As Fulfilling As Gift Giving
April 22nd, 2010I make gift for children shopping just as fulfilling as gift giving! In regards to gift giving they say, “It’s the thought that counts!” Sometimes I have trouble thinking of gifts for kids. The act of giving is a thoughtful gesture and we acknowledge and appreciate all our visitors for stepping into their power to engage in such a considerate activity. I was looking for gift to show my love for a 12 year old God daughter. Sometimes, looking for that perfect gift for that special child becomes time consuming and almost confusing when realizing the endless options of gift giving. Think of all the pressure and confusion you have experienced in the past when it came down to gift shopping for the special child in your life, didn’t you want to do the most, with the least cost? That’s how I felt; I wanted the best gift baskets for children out there.
I wanted to provide a simple and enjoyable gift while searching for gift baskets for kids. I was looking for a good website or online store with high-energy customer service and fun website design they enable shoppers to browse as they please; search by age, character, occasion, holiday, or price. I searched for that special gift baskets for children on a day to day basis, never missing a beat- to provide the best gift basket for kids. The sub categories I was looking for would allow me as a browser to filter what I was the market to purchase instead of clustering, their monitor with advertisements and promotions.
I had the best shopping experience in mind- one that serves as the ultimate gift shopping experience. I had a million options, I was looking into educational gift baskets for children, but all I kept coming across was sugar filled junk food gift baskets that would serve as instant gratification- I mean I’m sure my god daughter would love the junk food in a gift basket but I was looking for something she could re-use, benefit from, something original and special for her to remember me by, as a God mother. Gift baskets for children are often pricey if you know exactly what you are looking for, just because you have created expectations and at that point, I simply don’t settle for less. I ended up making a gift for her out of homemade materials such as books, coloring books, markers, stickers, and math puzzles. I figured it would be best to mix education and play time together to inspire her to enjoy learning and stretching her mind.
Overall, I had a blast making the gift baskets for children. I guess that’s why they say if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself; otherwise you will feel let down. Since then, I have made a few gift baskets and sent them to her and she is so thankful and happy every time she receives one. Now, I do it on occasions for no reason, and I really feel like it brings us closer even though we live so far away from each other.

How to Throw a Classy Over Hill Birthday Parties Without Going Over Board
February 9th, 2010The big 4-0 is a birthday most people live to forget, but if you are throwing an over-the-hill birthday bash for a friend or family member, there are lots of great ideas out to insure that their 40th birthday is unforgettable. Here are some classy and fun ideas to get you in your party-planning grove.
1. Casino Night. This is a great theme, especially if you and your friends like to play cards or enjoy going to a casino. You can make the invitations look like $100 bills or large poker chips. Encourage all your friends to dress in their finest, and you can serve cocktails and finger foods. You may even consider hiring someone who knows how to deal black jack and Texas hold’em . You can have a buy in and play for cash, or you can just play for fun! However, you and your friends would feel the most comfortable doing it.
2. The Way We Were. The best way to do it is to have the party center around the era when your friend or family member was born or was a teenager during. If they were born in the 70’s, you can have a 70’s theme birthday party. If they were a teen during the 80’s, why not consider an 80’s themed party? Be sure to have lots of pictures and maybe even show their favorite movie from that era. This theme is guaranteed to have everyone laughing or reminiscing from start to finish.
3. Game Show Party. What’s your friend or family member’s favorite game show? Why not center a party on that? This is a great theme, because a lot of your favorite game shows are available for purchase in board game form. You can send out invitations that say, “You’re invited to be a constant on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ in honor of Lisa’s birthday!” Your friends and family are guaranteed to jump all over the chance to win cool prizes and celebrate your loved one.
4. Tribute Band Birthday Party. A great idea is to rent out a local restaurant, hall, or function center and book a tribute band that plays the music of your friend’s favorite 70’s or 80’s band. There are lots of tribute bands that play in honor of bands like ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, or the Beatles. If you aren’t sure how to book them, call up some of your local bars/pubs and see if they know of any tribute bands that play in your area regularly. This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to enjoy some good music and celebrate your friend.
5. The Gift That Keeps Giving Party. This is a great party theme for the friend that has everything. Have your friend choose their favorite charity, and if they don’t have a charity they give to frequently then maybe you could suggest one like Ronald McDonald House, Susan G. Komen For The Cure, Make A Wish Foundation, or The American Red Cross. After you decide on a charity, you can throw a traditional birthday party but invite all of your guests to bring a monetary donation that will go to your friend’s selected charity. You may even consider providing pamphlets and information about the charity your friend or family member has chosen and maybe decorate using the color that signifies awareness for that particular illness or need.

Fun Outdoor Activities For Healthy Kids
December 25th, 2009Too many kids today are content with staying inside and playing video games with all of their free time. Trying to get them outdoors gets more and more difficult and requires some creativity. For kids of all ages, you will need to offer a variety of things to entertain them for any period of time at all. Don’t try to restrict activities to the backyard. Instead, find some activities that the whole family can enjoy or that will allow you some special time for just the two of you to enjoy together.
Whether you live in an urban area with a zoo or a rural area with historic landmarks, there are bound to be nature walks that you can enjoy. Your child will enjoy the opportunity to get to know their surroundings and learn about animals, plants, and historical events that are pertinent to the area. At the same time, you can both enjoy the fresh air and the exercise. Take your child’s age into account when planning walks and don’t expect too much from the younger ones.
Build a playhouse or tree house. You can find free plans online complete with the material requirements and a skills level rating. Playhouses are a great way to keep kids playing outdoors and create imaginative play. When they play a part in designing and constructing the structure, it will be a great achievement that the two of you enjoyed together!
Go fishing. This is an event that not many children have the opportunity to enjoy but it is a great summer activity. You don’t have to invest in lots of expensive equipment, just keep it simple. Pack a picnic lunch and you can enjoy a full day of relaxing fun!
You may have let your children grow a garden before but this time let them have the opportunity to learn even more. Start working on building a compost before it’s time to grow the garden. Make sure they plant things that they enjoy eating so that they get to take part in the experience from beginning to end.
For older children who enjoy a little more adventure, consider going to one of the thousands of zip line parks and attractions that are popping up all over the country. These are lines that are run from different points that you are suspended on to transport yourself to different areas. Depending on what is available in your area, there are some of these attractions that allow you a unique way to view the wildlife and get a new perspective on nature! Just make sure that the trails are age appropriate for your children.
There is a whole world outdoors that your children can experience and learn about. Find out what kinds of activities are offered in your community during the summer and sign up for something different than either of you have ever tried before. Encourage your children to learn new things and get to know about their communities in the process!

Finger Food Ideas For Babies and Toddlers
December 23rd, 2009At first, your baby will consume only milk or formula, and eventually you can work your way up to smooth baby foods. But what can you do to help your baby prepare for “real” food? In a way, small infants are easier to feed and care for than older babies or toddlers. The finger foods you choose for your baby can help determine his eating habits and preferences later in life, so making good choices is essential to his development.
Finger foods are meant to be self-fed, meaning your baby should be able to pick up an individual piece and place it in her mouth. Most babies are ready for self feeding when they are about 8 months old. One of the first things you will need to do is make sure that your child is truly ready for finger foods.
Some signs of readiness include
•The ability to chew or gum their food
•The ability to pick up a piece of food with a “pincer” grasp—using the thumb and a single finger.
•The ability to sit upright unassisted
•Grabbing the spoon and attempting to self feed
When your child is ready, you can assemble some fingerfoods for him to experiment with. Good choices will be easy to pick up, small enough so that they are not a choking hazard, and have an appealing look and taste. Some good finger food choices include:
•Cereals
•Small pieces of banana or other soft fruit
•Commercially made baby fruit “puffs”
•Shredded cheese
•Scrambled eggs
•Bite sized pieces of muffin or bread
Make sure your child is seated and interested in eating. Offering finger foods before serving the main course can ensure that your child is interested in what he is eating, and keep him busy while you spoon feed him.
Offer a small amount of your chosen food, no more than five or six pieces. Don’t be surprised if your baby rejects it at first, or picks it up and then drops it again. He will eventually get the hang of it.
Once all of the offered food is gone, you can offer more of the same type, or a different type of food. Offering a variety helps your child learn that different types of foods will be presented to him at mealtimes.
It helps to offer foods that are less sweet or less strong flavored first. A baby that starts out with sweet banana may object to plain bread or eggs. Offering bread or cereal first ensures that he won’t reject it in favor of something more sugary.
This is also a great way to introduce your child to a variety of foods. You can offer different veggies like carrots, potatoes, or broccoli, provided you cook them until they are a soft consistency. Children that are offered a wide variety of foods as babies may be more willing to eat balanced meals as they get older.
If you offer finger food and your baby rejects it, she may simply not be ready for it yet. You can wait a week or two and try again—she will come around eventually!

Thanksgiving Gift
November 26th, 2009Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is time to give thanks for the harvest and express our gratitude. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. In the U.S., this holiday is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in the month of November. In Canada, it is celebrated on the second Monday of October. This article explores the origin of Thanksgiving and provides ideas for Thanksgiving gift.
The earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was held by the Spanish settlers on September 8, 1565 in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. However, the traditional first Thanksgiving is generally considered as having occurred in 1621 at the Plymouth Plantation. In 1620, 102 pilgrims fled religious persecution in England, and crossed the Atlantic in the sailing vessel Mayflower. After a difficult journey at sea, the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth on December 11th, 1620. Although nearly half of the pilgrims died that winter due to the extreme cold weather, the native Indians helped the pilgrims survive by teaching them how to grow corn, beans and pumpkins. In the summer of 1621, a severe drought occurred and it appeared the corn harvest would not survive. The pilgrims called for a day of fasting and prayer to please God and ask for a bountiful harvest in the coming season. God answereed their prayers and it rained at the end of the day. It saved the corn crops.
In the autumn of 1621, the Pilgrims held a grand celebration to give thanks to God and the Native Americans. This communal dinner is popularly known as “The first thanksgiving feast”. The food included ducks, geese, venison, fish, berries, and boiled pumpkin. However, it was not until 1863 that President Abraham Lincoln, prompted by a series of editorials by Sarah Josepha Hale, proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a national Thanksgiving Day. In 1941, the U.S. Congress officially passed a bill requiring Thanksgiving be observed on the fourth Thursday of November.
Most Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends at home for a holiday feast. The god Zeus, in remorse, gave back her horn with supernatural powers, which would give the person in poession whatever he or she wished for. The original depiction of cornucopia was a goat’s horn filled with fruits and flowers. In modern depictions, the cornucopia is typically a hollow, horn-shaped wicker basket filled with festive fruit and vegetables.

Christmas Gifts For Kids Are Exciting
November 10th, 2009Every year, I look forward to the holiday season; a time where love and laughter seems to fill the air, and negative thoughts and emotions just go out of the window. During the last few months of every year, people come together to express their love for each other through kind gestures and gift giving- but there is something even deeper, the energy that is being exchanged through out this time is enough to warm up hearts and bring happiness and smiles. Christmas time is a time for giving and receiving, it is important to be able and willing to receive in order to create a healthy flow of energy during the holiday season. Sometimes, people get so wrapped up in wrapping gifts for others, they forget to take the time to enjoy the moment and benefit from the holy spirits. Unlike adults, children experience optimal joy and excitement during the holidays because they are filled with amazing positive energy and flow with the give/receive process. The life lesson in this is to learn to be light and playful to create the best possible gift giving season.
Year after year, I set intentions to modify my gift shopping and really find the most efficient way to get the most for what I spend- I have tried shopping for Christmas gifts earlier in the year, ordering online, shopping with coupons, and the list goes on. These strategies were all time consuming and costly. This year, I am doing things differently. I decided to start at the core- and get back to the chalkboard. First, I modified my list of loved ones that I’ll be shopping for and separated them by age group and gender- I quickly learned that organization makes every job lighter and easier to execute. I made a few separate lists and let the names and ideas simmer for a few days- as days went by, I felt a certain sense of clarity and gift ideas for my older recipients began flowing. I did my shopping with careful thought and took my time- found that lessened the stress and really allowed my to give each loved one the special attention they deserve. I was able to knock out my list of 14 friends/family between the ages of 25-35 in less than a week, it was such a delight!
Next on my agenda, I set out find the perfect Christmas gifts for kids. I put this off until last because I figured it would be the easiest, but boy was I wrong. I assumed the endless gift options for kids would make gift shopping easy and effortless- but it actuality, all it did was make room for confusion and uncertainty. I decided to go with my new technique, take time and shop thoughtfully and carefully for kids’ Christmas gifts. The more I did so, the more I realized that Christmas gifts for kids are similar and ordinary despite the various vendors and websites I visited. I made it my personal goal to add originality and uniqueness to my gifts for kids this year. Believe it or not, this narrowed down my search and flushed out the traditional candy canes and Santa Clause hats filled with goodies. Instead, I set aside time to surf the web for sites that offer unique and inexpensive Christmas gift ideas for kids. Not too long after I began browsing, I came across a website that exemplified exactly what I was looking for. I was able to create or select pre-made gift baskets for kids according to their age, gender, occasion, and interests. The website was a filtering tool in itself, it was great- and re-assured my prior philosophy, organization is KEY! I was able to select from various items and create my very own Christmas gift basket, allowing me to control the theme, content and most importantly, the price! Also, I hadn’t given much thought to the Jewish people on my list, as I assumed everyone appreciated gifts during this season and a Christmas tree simply symbolizes this time of year- this site included Holiday gift sets for Hanukah as well. I was literally my one stop shop for all my Hanukah and Christmas gifts for kids. While shopping this way, I was able to enjoy the comfort of my own home as opposed to stumbling upon and sorting through the mess they call the mall during this time of year- and quiet honestly, I enjoyed tapping into my creativity and allowing myself to give my loved ones special and personal gifts. In essence, since I selected content and created them myself- each gift was original and filled with my love, and my time, making every order handmade. While shopping from home, its needless to say I saved a lot of time and energy- but what made the process complete was the marvelous shipping options they had available. I was literally able to select, create, purchase, and ship my Christmas gifts for kids throughout the nation in just moments! All in all, this was a terrific gift giving season and I look forward to implementing my new strategies in years to come!

Issac Toussie On Traveling While Pregnant
October 31st, 2009Many pregnant women wonder if is safe for them to travel on an airplane. For most women flying is absolutely safe. Still, before you plan any trips, speak to your doctor and make sure he gives you the okay. If you are having a healthy pregnancy your doctor will usually is it is not a problem to fly. For those women who are considered a high risk pregnancy , the doctor may tell them to hold off until after delivery.
While some people think that housing, government, politics, entertainment, mortgages, banking, philosophy, and religion are among the most interesting subjects of intellectual discussion I believe that the care and education we have about our children and the birth and development of our children, may rank even higher. I, Isaac Robert Toussie, believe that children are our future, and if you pardon my expression, I believe they represent the greatest miracle G-d has ever given us.
The safest time to travel would be during your second trimester. It when the risk of miscarriage is dramatically decreased. It is also too early to worry about going into to early labor. Flying in your third trimester is not recommended because of the risk of going into labor early and being far away from your doctor.
Before you get on the plane make sure to eat a healthy meal. You never know if the flight will be delayed or how long it would take to get the meal on the plane. While on the airplane it is important to drink lots of water to ensure that you stay hydrated. It is also good to get up and move. About every half hour to an hour you should stand up and walk around the isles a bit. This helps the circulation in your legs. When you are sitting you can also do some stretches, like wiggle your toes and flex your legs. You can even take off your shoes and get comfortable. You should also make sure that what you’re wearing is loose and comfortable. You do not want to wear anything to tight that may make you uncomfortable.
When traveling by car, you should still do many of the same things. Make sure to stop and the rest-stops at least every hour. You need to walk around for circulation and you will probably need to use the bathroom. It is not good to hold it in so go as soon as you can find a restroom. Make sure to bring lots of snacks and drinks. You can also bring a cushion or a pillow for your seat to make sure it is extra comfortable. I don’t recall the extent of President George Bush’s or President Obama’s campaign focus on children and issues concerning children but future presidents would surely be praised for focusing on children during their campaigns and later during their presidential tenures.
