Deter Burglars With Practical Advice From Jordan Frankel, VP of Global Security Experts

    April 16th, 2010

Burglaries can happen to anyone, so to think that only the wealthy need adequate home security simply isn’t realistic. Everyone deserves an equal amount of safety and protection, and Global Security Experts founder Jordan Frankel is committed to providing homeowners with affordable and effective home security products.

Nearly 86% of all burglaries occur while families are home, so to think that break-ins only happen when one is on vacation or at work is simply contrary to the facts. Homeowners can be burglarized during broad day light, or at night, so it is imperative that proper home security measures are put into place.

Having a deadbolt lock on doors is important, but it simply isn’t enough to deter the brazen criminals who wish to burglarize you and your family. With more break-ins and burglaries occurring around the nation, homeowners must be prepared for anything and everything. Jordan Frankel, CEO of Global Security Experts and internationally recognized security expert wants homeowners to know there are tactics that can easily and affordably implement to deter criminals.

Mr. Frankel recommends that homeowners install LED motion sensor lights as they will startle a potential burglar. Timers on inside lights work wonders as a burglar will have no idea if the homeowner turned them on or not. If it looks as though a homeowner is moving about in the home, a burglar may become nervous and move on.

Burglars are becoming increasingly bold in their attempts to burglarize. Burglars are beginning to use tactics such as posing as a utility worker who needs to check on something in your yard or inside your home. When one of these individuals comes to your home, do not let them inside, even if they have identification. If you aren’t expecting them, then they should not be on your property. It’s unlikely the bad guy will attempt to burglarize you that instant, they are usually staking out your home and making a mental inventory list. If there is a true emergency such as a gas leak in the neighborhood and someone needs access to your home, there will most likely be a police escort or presence.

It is important to note that windows and doors are the easiest point of entry for a burglar. Maintain adequate landscaping around your home to prevent dark and hiding spots for criminals. Trim bushes and shrubbery away from windows and doors so that there aren’t any easy hiding spots.

Burglars will often use a bat or other object to shatter the glass encased in doors and windows.

Jordan Frankel has developed a remarkably strong and effective product, ShatterGARD to add an extra layer of defense for window and glass surfaces. ShatterGARD is a glass protection film that significantly improves the strength and overall integrity of glass surfaces. The installation of ShatterGARD is simple, budget friendly and unnoticeable on glass surfaces as it is optically clear or lightly tinted.

Global Security Experts founder Jordan Frankel is known across the world as developing and implementing revolutionary products that save and protect lives. Countless institutions, organizations and companies entrust Mr. Frankel with their safety and count on Global Security Experts to develop only the best and most innovative security products available on the market today.

Mr. Frankel is a proud member of the American Society for Industrial Safety and the International Association for Counter-Terrorism & Security.

More information about Global Security Experts and Jordan Frankel can be found at http://www.globalsecurityexperts.com. Mr. Frankel is available for both television and print media interviews and can be reached at 1-888-306-7998 ext. 14.

Moms Jewelry: Bearer of Great Family Moments

    December 20th, 2009

Looking into mom’s jewelry is like walking down memory lane. Inside her jewelry box was an assortment of various types of jewelry, both precious and costume items that meant something special to her. She still had her first pearl ear rings that was given to her when she was 12 years old by my grandmother. My mom and her sisters went off to boarding school when she was 8 years old. Those were tough times for her as she was the eldest girl in the family. She lived with my grandmother’s sister while attending grade school. Though she was with family, it was hard for an 8 year old having to spend Christmas away from my grand parents. Those pair of ear rings pearl with sterling silver looked a bit worn and tarnished but had that sense of character and history that made that jewelry important. She told us that it was an heirloom piece as it came from my great grandmother, and may have been more than 80 years old. My mom wore them for special occasions when she was younger like birthday parties and formal dinners, which was frequent since my grand aunt was married to a politician who later became the vice president of the country. There was also this bracelet which was given to her by one of her best friend’s her first cousin, Auntie Ludy. Auntie Ludy and mom were of the same age and like my mom, she also went to boarding school at a very young age, most likely the same age as when my mom went. They spent weekends together as well, and had grown closer in the absence of their respective parents. Perhaps Auntie Ludy was her sounding board but they lead the same kind of lives as both my mom and she got married to their respective spouses at the same time. When Auntie Ludy was in her early 30’s, she passed away from cancer. I remember attending her wake as a young boy and it seemed such a sad day for everyone. My mom wore that bracelet during the funeral services and kinda held unto through out that time. That bracelet remains in mom’s jewelry box to this day, encased in a transparent resealable plastic.

There was some interesting costume jewelry that my mom had. One was a pair of floral earrings distinctly big as it looked like yellow sunflowers. This was the jewelry my sister used in her first ballet show she ever did. It was part of mom’s jewelry because it reminded her of how my sister stole the show, the youngest participant at age 6 dancing or rather prancing around in her flower costume with big clip on ear rings to booth. I actually don’t remember that show or perhaps I wasn’t there.

There are many other items in mom’s jewelry that may be of precious value while others are not but all in all, the memories behind these jewelries are the ones that make them invaluable.

Shelley has been writing for years now and she loves to speak out her great adoration for jewelry watches. A great website on all kinds of jewelry is here to stay with almost all kinds of jewelry imaginable! Shelley has become an instant fan ever since.

10 Things to Consider When Choosing a Neighbourhood

    November 20th, 2009

Where you live is as important as the house you live in. Maybe you have a good idea of where you want to live but don’t let that keep you from looking at other neighborhoods. While looking around, don’t forget to check the statistics, ask questions, do your research, and make first-hand observations to ensure that you make a decision that will suit your family while making the best possible investment. Here are some things to consider when choosing a neighborhood:

    1. Quality of Schools

If you have children or are planning to have children, this is one of your biggest considerations. Log onto the Internet or request brochures from schools in the area that you are interested in to ensure that they are right for your children.

    2. Value of Properties

Protect your investment by researching the possibility of future development in the neighborhood that may decrease the property value.

    3. Decide on Property Type

Decide whether you are looking for an apartment or flat, house, condo, townhouse etc. before you start searching for the right neighborhood.

    4. What Style Are You Interested In?

Once you’ve decided what type of property you are looking for you can start considering what style you would like whether it is Cape Cod, Victorian etc. This will certainly have an effect on what neighborhood to choose.

    5. Amount of Traffic

Nobody really want huge amounts of traffic in their neighborhood, but if you rely on public transport you may want to live close to bus stops or have access to taxi’s. These spots might be closer to mainstream traffic.

    6. Crime in the Area

Do some research on the crime statistic of the area. This will most likely have an influence on you insurance so it is worth the effort and consideration.

    7. Proximity to Amenities

If you walk where you want to be, you might want to consider the amenities in the neighborhood. Would it be able for you to get to the library, shops and restaurants, campus on foot? This is especially important if you are investing or buying holiday property or buy-to-let property.

    8. What Don’t You Want?

Make a list of things you don’t want in your neighborhood. If you don’t want a noisy area, it is best to stay away from neighborhoods where there are student accommodation or close to pubs and clubs. If you don’t want to commute too far everyday, be sure to consider a property close to your place of work.

    9. Developments in the Area

When you consider a neighborhood, be sure to research upcoming or future developments in the area. These developments might change the picture for you in a negative or positive way.

    10. Can You Afford the Areas Tax?

Make sure you can afford the neighborhood tax.

It is essential that you do research on neighborhoods before you make a decision as to where you want to buy property. The Internet, local community papers and neighborhood or homeowners’ associations are fantastic resources.

Simple Tips For Purchasing Your First Home Today

    October 26th, 2009

Purchasing your first home can seem overwhelming at first, but it can be a very simple task. There are many first-time home buyers who are purchasing their first home without any problem. So, how exactly do they go about doing this? First off, the home buying task can be simplified by researching the market and doing a little homework.

When you buy your first house, you should start out by writing down the things which are most important to your buying needs. Next, you will need to figure out the exact amount of a mortgage payment you can afford every month. Depending on how your credit report looks will be one of the most important factors in determining how much you will be able to borrow. If you and another person, such as your spouse, are purchasing a home together, it is important that the two of you sit down and discuss both of your finances openly. This means discussing any outstanding debt either of you may have. After you both have done this, you should start to have a decent idea about the type of house you will be able to purchase. If you are not happy with the houses you can afford, perhaps you should not purchase a home at the given time and try to focus your attention on improving your credit for awhile. You can try again later and purchase a home you are more satisfied with.

When buying your first house, there are some things you should always pay close attention to. The location is an important factor to consider. The location will help in determining just how much you will be spending on your house and it will also determine the type neighborhood you will be living in. If you view a house in a magazine or online that only shows a picture of the house from a great distance away or no picture at all, you should be leery. There have been houses listed in these different ways that look nothing like what they look like in the pictures when you really go and look at them in person. For example, one prospective buyer found a house with an exceptional sale price, but when the house was viewed, it was discovered to be located in a very inconvenient location. Another prospective buyer found a house at a great price but the house was located in a high crime neighborhood.

When you are looking for property to purchase, you need to be cautious in your purchase. It’s perfectly okay to go and look at houses in particular neighborhoods, but by getting the assistance of a real estate agent, you will have much better success in finding what you are looking for. A real estate agent will know the ins and outs of the neighborhood where the house is located and can help you find the perfect house for your specific needs. You can get a vast amount of information by talking to an agent as well.

    Essential Beach Stuff For Kids

    October 18th, 2009

Whether you live by the ocean or just take a yearly vacation to the beach, there are some things you should keep in mind as you plan your trip. Most beaches don’t have a store nearby—and you won’t want to leave the surf to go find an item you could have brought from home. Review this list before your next trip, and you’ll be prepared!

    1. Sunblock: The sun’s rays bounce off of the surface of the water and the sand, making it more likely that you will get burned. The ocean breeze can make it seem cooler than it is—you may not realize you are getting sunburned until it is too late. Make sure every member of the family wears sunblock, and reapply after swimming or splashing in the ocean.

    2. Chairs: Bring a comfortable, low slung beach chair for each adult—kids will prefer sitting on a beach towel, but most grownups prefer using a chair. Look for a chair that folds compactly, or comes with a carry strap for easy handling.

    3. Backpack: Pack a single backpack or bag with your essentials—if you keep everything together, you will only have one bag to keep track of. Avoid bringing your purse or wallet to the beach—lock them in your car instead.

    4. Change of clothing: Bring a dry set of clothing for each member of your party. The ride home will be much more comfortable if you change into dry clothes—a wet, sandy swimsuit can be very itchy to wear, and make even a short car trip uncomfortable. Most beaches have restrooms and changing facilities and you will appreciate the fresh clothing after a busy day in the waves.

    5. Wet washcloth in a baggie: Place a soaking wet washcloth in a ziplock baggie, and add it to your backpack. Someone will inevitably get sand, saltwater, or sunblock in their eyes and you can use a damp washcloth to ease the sting. You can also use this to wash hands before eating or drinking.

    6. Sand Toys: A bucket and shovel are the bare minimum here. Look for a set that comes with a variety of shapes for molding sand, and have one of the kids carry it!

    7. Snack or lunch: Depending on the beach you are going to, there may not be food facilities nearby. Most beaches in the Southeast are boardwalk-free, so you will have to either bring lunch, or leave the beach to find something to eat.

    8. Bottled water: It is easy to become dehydrated while you frolic in the waves—partially freeze a few bottles of water and add them to your backpack, and you will have access to fresh, cool water without leaving the beach.

    9. Shoes: Make sure every member of your party is wearing shoes. Sand can get extremely hot by mid afternoon, and you may have to walk a bit to find the perfect spot to set up. Wearing shoes (flipflops or crocs are ideal) also protects your feet from broken shells and other debris.

10.Waterproof camera: Pack an inexpensive, throwaway camera for your trip, and leave the pricey photo gear at home. Small particles of sand could work their way into your camera, and damage its delicate parts. Bring along a cheap waterproof version instead, and snap your photos worry-free.

One of the best things you can do for your trip is plan ahead. If you haven’t visited this particular beach before, call ahead and check on parking, restroom facilities, and other important information before you arrive. By planning ahead, and packing the essentials, you can focus on fun, and enjoy your day at the beach!

    Great Birthday Gifts For Boys

    October 18th, 2009

Boys can be tough to buy for—especially if you already have “every” action figure ever made! Don’t buy another video game, just because you can’t think of anything else! Consider one of these kid tested ideas for your next “boy” gift:

    1. Storage for cars or action figures: Little boy toys like cars and action figures are great for prompting pretend play and role playing—but the small pieces get scattered everywhere. Your house will look better, and your son will be more likely to play with his cars if they are all in the same accessible place. Look for a storage set specifically designed for cars or action figures, or select and decorate a large tackle box.

    2. Sports Equipment: This may seem obvious, but a sports set with equipment of the right size (scaled down for little guys, regulation sized for big kids), will keep your child motivated and moving. Consider a basketball hoop, soccer goal, or for the little ones, a t-ball set.

    3. Skateboard, skates, or scooter: Depending on his age, one of these fun and functional transport devices is a great addition, and will be sure to encourage physical activity. If you buy one of these items, be sure to supply the proper safety equipment, and explain the rules for use as well.

    4. Fishing gear: Supply your son with his own fishing rod and tackle box. Little kids will enjoy using a smaller sized rod featuring their favorite characters. Kid 8 and up can use a standard sized rod. Depending on where you live, you can go fishing, shrimping, or crabbing—the one on one quiet time you will have together is just as important as the catch of the day!

    5. Tent or Tunnel: Offer a pop up tent or tunnel, and allow your son to use his imagination. A tent can become a fort, a spacecraft, or even a play house, all in a single day. Look for a tent or tunnel that folds compactly for easy storage.

    6. Visit a zoo or museum: Have some one-on-one time with your child at a zoo or museum. If your son is interested in dinosaurs, check out an exhibit, attend a dino-talk, and have lunch at a local museum, and pick up a souvenir at the gift shop as a reminder of the day.

    7. Take in a Sports Event: If you have a local major or minor league team, spend a day together at a sports event. If your child has an interest in a particular sport, attending a “real” match or game can be a very inspiring experience for him.

    8. Pottery set: You can buy a kit that comes with everything you need to make your own pottery—this very messy activity appeals to boys with an interest in art, and helps foster creativity. Alternatively, provide art materials like paint, paper, and canvas to encourage creativity.

    9. Building set: Choose a building set of some type—depending on your childs age, it can be robotic, including moving parts, or a classic “building” toy like plastic or wooden blocks. Either way, make sure you purchase a large set with lots of pieces, and make some space for your “builder” to work.

    10. Remote control anything: Boys of all ages—including grown ups, love to play with remote control toys. From helicopters to cars, and airplanes to boats, you can find a fun remote control toy that your son will enjoy.

Denise Sanger is the owner of NewCoolToysOnline.com which features a fantastic selection of outdoor toys including ride-on toys and battery ride on toys.? The company is located in Sunny Florida and may be reached 877-950-7665.

Fine Dining With Children – What You Need To Know

    October 3rd, 2009

Dining at a luxury restaurant is a wonderful way to relax and have great wine and food. Many parents have concerns about taking their children to a fine dining restaurant. Below are a number of tips to help make your fine dining experience with children pleasurable and not embarrassing.

    1. If you have made a reservation several days or a week before, you can practice good behavior and manners with your children at home. Help them learn to say ‘thank you,’ and ‘please.’ Use positive reinforcement techniques. As well, if they are old enough, you will have to teach them to use cutlery and drink a beverage without spilling it. As well, if they are old enough, you can teach them how to properly order food. When you reserve a table, ask for a corner table for privacy.

    2. When you arrive and park at the restaurant, it is time to have one more gentle and positive talk about how the children are to behave. Explain that they cannot yell, scream, and run around at the restaurant. Remind them that they have to consider the other people dining.

    3. It can be a real hassle and distraction taking children to the restroom at a fine dining restaurant. Before you arrive, make sure the children have gone to the restroom.

    4. When most people attend a fine dining restaurant, it tends to be between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. This can be very late for children who may get hungry and cranky. Bring some snacks such as carrots or apple pieces for them to munch on while waiting for the main meal. While you are waiting for your meal, have some activity books such as crossword puzzles or coloring books to keep them occupied. Include the children in the table conversation. You can also ask your server for some bread or crackers for the children. To make ordering faster and easier, make sure you know what your children like and don’t have them experiment with new or spicy foods.

    5. Children are curious and love to pick things up and put them in their mouths. Keep candles, sugar packets, cutlery such as knives and forks, and flower displays out of their reach. For very young children, take along a bib, bottles or a child’s special ‘sippy’ cup for drinking. Use high chairs safely.

    6. When the meal arrives, look after the children first. Cut the meal up in small pieces for better eating. Make sure you have ordered the beverage to come with the meal. When the children are finished, ask the server to take their plates out of the way. If your children are anxious, skip dessert.

    7. Very young children do not like to sit for a long period of time. Once everyone has finished eating, it may be a good time to leave. Older children will be able to sit for a certain period of time before they start getting fidgety and want to leave.

    8. Be patient and try not to let small incidents bother you. Children can pick up on frustration.

Fine dining is a wonderful way to spend the evening. When taking children to an elegant restaurant, you greatly improve the chances of having a successful meal without any unpleasant incidents by planning ahead.
